Materials for Oils
We always reccomend purchasing art supplies at an art supply store, there are many good ones in Calgary. You will get better products and at a lower price than at craft stores such as Micheals. We reccomend Inglewood, Mona Lisa or Kensington Art supply.
Paints
Generally we have found that buying artist quality paints is best even for beginners. Because of the higher pigment loading in the artist grade of paint, you use less paint and that offsets the higher cost.
A good brand to start with is Graham, this is a reasonable priced artist quality paint
