Pastel

Pastels can be purchased individually or in a set. Start with a small set of colours and add colours as you need them. Various types an colours of Pastel paper are available, the personnel at an art supply store can help you select something suiatable to start with.

Charcoal

Charcoal can be purchased in several varieties, thin vine charcoal, traditional sticks and as a pencil. Drawings can be done on newsprint, cartridge paper or pastel papers. A good drawing paper would make a place to start.

Pencil

Pencils come in various degrees of hardness, select several different pencils from 4B to 4H, or purchase a set. Drawing paper in either sheets or in a Sketch book is a good place to start

Pen & Ink

For pen and ink you will need a pen with a couple of different nibs, these are like a fountain pen, and you will need a small jar of india ink. Alternatively, you can also use the felt tipped marker pens that can be purchased at an Art Supply store.
